Dorith Teichman // דורית טייכמן
Dorith Teichman’s art is about movement and change. She paints the subterranean movement revealed when attention is focused inwards to the body and soul. The experience of the present moment is sensed beyond the layer of a story or image; thus, her paintings are abstract. Teichman’s brushstrokes are an immediate expression of the inner movement leaving its marks on the white canvas. Layers of transparencies reveal the process and its archeology. Nothing is planned in advance; the painting develops through awareness to change, it is complete when it reaches a kind of homeostatic wholeness, when opposites meet and the internal movement is exhausted. All the paintings are acrylic on canvas or paper.
